Three Ways to Create Your Signature
1. Draw Your Signature
Use your mouse, trackpad, or finger (on touchscreens) to draw your signature directly. This produces the most natural-looking result, especially on tablets or phones where you can use your finger or a stylus.
2. Type Your Name
Type your name and choose from several handwriting-style fonts. Quick and clean, though less personal than a drawn signature. This works well for internal documents or approvals that don't require a handwritten look.
3. Upload a Signature Image
If you've already scanned your signature or have it as an image file, upload it directly. The tool places it on the PDF at your chosen location. Pro tip: use a PNG with a transparent background for the cleanest result.
Are Electronic Signatures Legally Valid?
In most cases, yes. Electronic signatures are legally recognized in:
- United States — ESIGN Act and UETA make electronic signatures legally equivalent to handwritten ones for most documents
- European Union — eIDAS regulation recognizes electronic signatures, with advanced and qualified signatures having higher legal standing
- United Kingdom — Electronic Communications Act 2000
- Canada, Australia, and most other countries have similar legislation
However, some documents still require "wet" (physical) signatures — notarized documents, certain real estate transactions, wills, and some government forms. When in doubt, check with the recipient about their requirements.
Note: The signatures created by our tool are simple electronic signatures. For legally binding qualified electronic signatures (QES), you'll need a certified provider with identity verification.
